UniNats ‘05 - DARWIN, NT, AUSTRALIA (July 1st-4th 2005)
The NT should be very proud of the effort put in by a number of Darwin participants who competed at the 2005 Australian Unicycle National Championships in Darwin. Many Darwin youngsters displayed a high level of enthusiasm and achieved great personal results. Many Darwin unicyclists won medals in a range of events. Well done to everyone and a big thank-you to those adults and children alike who volunteered their time to help with the day to day running of the events.

2005 ARAFURA GAMES OPENING CEREMONY
The Arafura Games Opening Ceremony Unicycling Team put on a fantastic Artisic display for the thousands of people watching the Opening Ceremony. The event was televised throughout Australia and it was the first time the NT had ever seen a group artistic unicycle performance. Hopefully one day the Arafural Games program will include unicycling!

UNICON 12 - TOKYO, JAPAN (July 23rd - August 3rd 2004)
Debbie Hyder and one of her circus students Phoebe Martin, and Phoebe’s mother Karen Martin-Stone met up in Tokyo for the 12th International Unicycle Convention and Championships (UNICON 12) to represent the Northern Territory. Approximately 13 other Australians attended the event. At the end of the championships the Australian medal tally was a whopping 23 medals.
The Japanese Unicycling Association did an outstanding job of organising such a huge event. There were almost 1500 people attending and although some events did run over time, all events were catered for. The competition facilities were excellent and transport very easy. We stayed in the National Olympic Memorial Youth Centre, and used a lot of the facilities built for the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
Congratulations to our Australian medal winners: Sebastian Hogan: 1 silver, 2 bronze Debbie Hyder: 9 gold, 1 silver, 3 bronze Kon Kudo: 1 gold Phoebe Martin: 1 bronze Dale Newbery: 1 silver Simon Wells: 2 silver
While attending UNICON, Karen Martin-Stone was elected vice-president of the International Unicycling Federation. This appointment to the international committee reflects the growth of unicycling as a sport in Australia and our recognition internationally.

We are very proud of our team for giving their best, and for always demonstrating the utmost level of sportsmanship. They came up against some very stiff competition, and held their own well. We look forward to competing against the world's best in Tokyo in July, if we can secure enough sponsorship to get us there. If you wish to help us get to Tokyo please contact us. Your assistance would be much appreciated.
