Wednesday 23rd February was the day of our 3rd practice session at Darwin High School for 2005. Thank-you Karen for organising these wonderful sessions. Corin (above) and Lahtina (right) were two of about a dozen unicyclists who got together to have some serious fun. Two special guests included Christina from Denmark and Stephie from Germany who both proved to be competent riders and enjoyed playing unicycle tip we anyone who had enough energy. It was a hot night but we were all having too much fun to let that bother us. We practiced skills such as mini unicycle riding, unicycle basketball, giraffe unicycle riding, artistic riding, pairs artistic, trials, and gliding. BJ did some wicked kick-up mounts and helped Emma learn to free mount. Miss Deb and BJ did some wheel hopping and Lahtina mixed giraffe riding with basketball (above right). Ashley mastered free-mounting consistently and Corin practicing some rocking and 90 degree turns. Miss Kim took son Nathan for another ride and then Father Percy entertained him while Miss Kim enjoyed some more practice. Hanna put in a lot of effort to learn to free-mount. Phoebe came along with a cast on her left arm to show people why it is important to wear all the safety gear, especially wrist guards. Karen and daughter Phoebe spent some time looking over the International Unicycle Federation Skill Levels and Karen worked on riding in smaller circles. Some parents stayed to watch and all in all it was a fantastic night that seemed to finish too quickly. Check the Schedule to see if we will be there again next week. Everyone is welcome so come along and join in the fun, but first, check out the requirements.
